Step 1:
I found some neat Instructibles about sending and receiving email with a simple Net10 type cell phone - which is what I have.
But the service noted Teleflip - has gone belly up.
So I dug around a little bit to see if I could figure something out.
Here's what I've found out.

Step 2:
I Googled around to see if I could discover my email address and it kept looking like cinglularme.com was the source.
When I went there, though, I discovered that AT&T had taken all of that over (they had bought out Cingluar - duh!).
Still, I went ahead and registered my 'mobile phone number' and sure enough AT&T is the carrier for Net10 in my area - YMMV.
I was able to register my phone and discovered that not only can I send email to my phone at '1234567890@txt.att.net' but you can also create an alias to your phone and restrict or block so that only email messages can be sent to the alias.
So instead of '1234567890@txt.att.net' you can send it to 'alias@txt.att.net'
That's the sending email to your Net10 phone part.
The web address for this AT&T site is:
http://mymessages.wireless.att.com/?l=en-US&v=att
Just click "register now" to get it all setup.

Step 3:
Sorry - I couldn't think of an intelligent way to "capture" the screens on the phone - so I'll just describe them.
1. Compose your message as you normally would.
2. When done, select 'Options' then select 'Sending Options'
3. At the 'Sending Options' page select 'Sending Profile'
4. Then select 'Email Settings'
5. Once here you get a "Subject:" line you can fill in
6. After you hit 'OK' it will take you to a screen to enter an "Email Address:"
7. Just enter the email address and hit 'OK'
8. Off it goes!
9. The from address will be the '1234567890@txt.att.net'
Enjoy!
