Introduction: Set Sail in This Simple Cardboard Boat Costume

Step 1: Part 1 (right Side)

1. Place the cardboard (S1) horizontally on top of the cutting mat (T1).

2. Using a ruler (T3), measure 2" from the right edge of the cardboard and draw a line 18" long from the top edge down with the marker (T4).

3. Use a pen (T5), score the cardboard along the line.

4. Use the utility knife (T2) to cut the cardboard along the scored line.

5. Using a ruler (T3), place a small mark in the center of the bottom edge. Using the ruler (T3) and marker (T4), draw a straight line from the top left corner to the mid-point mark on the bottom edge.

6. Using the pen (T5), score the cardboard along the line drawn in Step 5.

7. Using the utility knife (T2), cut the cardboard along the scored line.

8. Using a ruler (T3), measure from the upper, left corner 3" across the top edge. From this point, make a 2" vertical cut.

Step 2: Part 2 (left Side)

1. Place the cardboard (S2) horizontally on top of the cutting mat (T1).

2. Using a ruler (T3), measure 2" from the left edge of the cardboard and draw an 18" line from the bottom edge up with the marker (T4).

6. Using the pen (T5), score the cardboard along the line drawn in Step 5.

7. Using the utility knife (T2), cut the cardboard along the scored line.

8. Using a ruler (T3), measure 3" along the top edge starting from the upper right corner. From this point, measure 2" down. Place a mark. From the bottom edge, make a vertical cut up to the mark.

Step 3: Assemblance of Boat Costume (step 1)

1. With the two sides (P1 & P2) next to each other, slide the left side (P2) down, over the right side (P1) so that the 2" cut section is behind the other piece. It will have the shape of a trapezoid.

Step 4: Assemblance of Boat Costume (step 2)

2. Fold the pieces toward each other with the 2" tabs to the inside.

Step 5: Assemblance of Boat Costume (step 3)
