Introduction: Sew Your Heart Into a Card

What?

Make a hand-sewn card, not a printed product or a simple flat design. It allows the person who receives the card to feel more of your heartfelt intention.

How?

First, use an awl to poke holes.

Use a needle and colorful threads to sew your own designed card.

Then stick it onto the card.

Why?

Now, many cards sold in bookstores and online are mass-produced printed products.

They don’t have a "one and only" feeling.

I hope this hand-sewn card can truly and directly convey feelings and care.

Step 1: Cut the Card

Materials: A4 art paper, craft knife (or utility knife)

Cut the A4 art paper into one half (A5) and one quarter (A6).

Note:

We only need one A5 and one A6 piece.

Step 2: Design the Pattern

Materials: Pencil, reference text

Draw the pattern (using the text "Just for U" as an example).

Note:

You can refer to text designs from the internet or books, or design your own text and pattern.

Step 3: Poke Holes

Materials: Awl, cutting mat, eraser

Use the awl to poke holes along the lines (to make sewing easier).

Then erase the pencil lines with an eraser.

Note:

The distance between holes is about 3-5mm.

Place a cutting mat underneath.

Step 4: Sew the Card

Materials: Needle, thread, tape

Sew the card with needle and thread.

To keep the card flat, use tape to fix the thread ends on the back.

Note:

You can use different colors to create a colorful effect.

Step 5: Make the Bead Effect

If you want to make a bead effect, tie a knot on the front, then bring the thread back to the back.

Note:

You can use different colors to create a colorful effect.

Step 6: Write Blessings

You can also draw pictures and write words on it.

Note:

Using glitter pens looks very nice.

Step 7: Apply Double-Sided Tape

Materials: Double-sided tape

Stick double-sided tape on the back of the sewn paper,

then stick it onto the A5 paper folded in half.

Note:

Tear off a small piece of tape at the start.

It’s easier to align before sticking.
