Ship Wheel

First step to making ship well is a drawing. I used the program that allow to construct 3d model.

Step 1:

Then I bought the material - is ash-tree.

Step 2:

To make needles tree was placed in a lathe

Step 3:

Preparations for wheels is processing on a lathe

Step 4:

All parts are merged with an adhesive for wood

Step 5:

Machined metal parts for coating

Step 6:

Then I covered the ship wheel by the ship lacquer and attach iron parts. Iron parts are covered with bronze paint. It is ready. The weight is 10 kg.

I made something similar but used a router to cut out the wheel and turned the "arms " on a wood lathe.
