Introduction: Shipping Container House
I created a house made of shipping containers using Revit 2020 software and BIMbojects. Including the garage, I used six shipping containers in all. I used four shipping containers for the house and two for the garage. I built this house and used it as a learning experience. Since I've never used this software before it was a great learning experience for me. I gained a lot of knowledge from this challenge
Supplies
The two resources I used to create the shipping container house are Revit 2020 and BIMobjects. I used BIMobjects only for furniture and technology. Everything else I placed or created I used Revit for.
Step 1: Floor Plans
The pictures shown here are my floor plans. The first thing I decided on was my floor plans and that I wanted to create a functional home. I started laying out the first floor and then moved on to deciding where and how big I wanted the second floor to be. I also created the floor plan first so I could build and add items around them, instead of trying to fit my house into furniture pieces.
Step 2: Building the Bones
I built the bones of the home second. By bones I mean the basics of a house; walls, roofs, floors, windows, doors, etc. I did this because building the walls and floor creates a base for all of the furniture. I created the walls, roofs, and floors first. After that, I added doors, windows, and pillars to make the home look less plain. These are the steps I took to in step 2: Building The Bones.
Step 3: Adding First Floor Furniture
The third thing I did was add furniture to the first floor. First I looked at BIMobjects furniture and downloaded what I wanted from the website. After that, I adjusted the dimensions of objects to make them fit the home better. I placed objects in the living room and laundry room first. Then in the kitchen and dining room around it.
Step 4: Adding Second Floor Furniture
In this step, I added furniture to the second floor. The first thing I did was make a closet. After that, I picked out and placed the bed. Third I decorated the bathroom and balcony door. Lastly, I added minor details to enhance the room. During this step, I really saw the house really come together.
Step 5: Creating the Balcony
In step five I created a balcony adding the railing and first. After adding the railing I changed the floor to create a more outdoor feel. The balcony is personal, it is for the resident of the home.
Step 6: The Garage
After building the bones of the garage in Step 2 I added the main elements of the garage. I started by adding the two garage doors. After that, I added a side entrance. I picked out a door that had a glass window but it was blurred so you cannot see inside. Then lastly I added the two cars to the garage.
