Shotgun Shell Necklace: a Non-explosive Foray Into Radical Chic

If you're like me, you love owning clothes or doo-dads that make the passerby look twice as you pass. One such item is the revered bullet necklace or keychain. These always look great and inspire no small amount of guarded admiration from others. But once again, if you're like me, you are broke and cannot waste your Red Bull money on such a thing.�gt; In this instructable I will show how you can fabricate your own Shotgun Shell necklace, keychain or whatnot without blowing your head off. Sound good? Let's get crackin'!

Step 1: Items Needed

For this build you will need-

1-PVC pipe

2-Two washers, one slightly larger in diameter than your PVC pipe. (The other can be pretty much any size so long as it can fit inside your pipe.)

3-Cardstock

4-One nut or rivet

5-A thin chain (or whatever tickles your fancy)

6-Epoxy

7-Paint (Gold/brass, plus green or red.)

Step 2: Let's Get Cutting

Cut a 2 to 2.5 inch length off of your PVC using a hacksaw or rotary tool. Sand down the rough side you have just cut to insure that it will sit flat.

Step 3: Making the Firing Pin

Mix up a small portion of epoxy. Now take your small washer and coat the rim of the hole with the paste you've just mixed. Place your nut or rivet into the hole, making sure that it is centered and resting snugly in the epoxy.
Set aside to dry.

Step 4: Forming the Lip

Once your firing pin has dried, mix up a little more epoxy and smear it around the hole of the large washer. Place your firing pin facedown into the hole, building up around the edge with epoxy for strength.
Set aside to dry.

Step 5: There's a Hole in My Shell!

Take your PVC length and drill a hole towards the top of the side/. Be sure that the bit passes through both sides, as your chain will be fed through here.

Step 6: Attaching the Lip

Using your epoxy, attach the dry lip and firing pin to the shell body. Be sure to make sure it's centered and not mess with it too much. (I moved it too early and it dried off-center.)

Step 7: Plugging the Top

Cut off a circle of cardstock and place it down the top of your shell body. Seal with Epoxy.

Step 8: Forming the Shell Casing

Cut off a strip of cardstock that is about a third as tall as your shell body. Wrap this around the shell body at the lip and glue that sucker in place.

Step 9: Paint!

Apply paint of your choice liberally. Be careful to mask off the appropriate areas when using spray enamel.

Step 10: Threading the Chain

Once the paint has dried, feed your chain through the holes you drilled.

Step 11: Finished!

Now stand back and admire your new accessory. Better yet, slap it on and enjoy!

Yeah, hate to bust your balls there chucho, but if you would grow em and take a ballbuster300, aka: 12 ga, and fired it off, putting a hole through it and chaining it, you wouldn't be here, and you can drink your redbull while your at it

If you make it out of a used shotgun shell, it's still a DYI. I use shotgun shells for a lot of things, like conchos for leather, lighter jackets, keychains, ect. Do like your idea but also think a used shotgun shell is better.

Actually, what you are making here is the primer, the part that the firing pin (part of the shotgun) strikes to ignite the shell.
