Simple Leather Case for Field Notes
Intro: Simple Leather Case for Field Notes
Field Notes and Moleskine Cahier Journal are great EDC notebooks. However neither brand is as durable as I would like so I designed this leather case to give a second skin to the notebook.
What you will need:
- Some thin leather ( about 1.5mm thick)
- 2 leather sewing needles
- Waxed thread
- Laser Cutter
STEP 1: Laser Cut the Parts
Use the attached SVG to laser cut the pieces of leather out.
It may be necessary thin out the leather after cutting it to get it down to 1.5mm thickness.
You can also dye and seal the leather at this point.
STEP 2: Fold the Leather
This is a great guide little guide on how to fold leather.
STEP 3: Stitch the Leather Pieces Together.
Another great guide on how to stitch leather.
STEP 4: Done!
Insert your notebook and get to work!

For those of us who do not have access to a laser cutter, and/or cannot open the template file, would you be so kind to post the template as a doc or as a pdf? Thanks,

Yes, it did ope in my browser. Now, would you be so kind as to give the dimensions? I have made two, and even though I increase the size each time, they are still too small. Thanks.

with only slight modifications once could also add an extra loop at the spine for pencil/pen as seen here:
