Introduction: Simple Solar Oven

Gather your materials. You need:

- 1 pizza box

- 1 2*2 square of reflective, sticky paper or 1 2*2 square of aluminum foil

- 1 pair of scissors

- 1 roll of duct tape- preferably black

- 1 cup- preferably black

- 2 foot long pieces of wood- rulers of extra long pencils work

Step 1: Cut the Pizza Box

Cut away the edges of the top of the pizza box. Do not recycle them, you will need them later on. This step will increase the amount of sunlight that can enter the box.

Step 2: Angling Assist

Add duct tape on the inside, attach it to the pizza box. This will reduce the weight that must be held by the simple support that we will add later on.

Step 3: Add Your Reflectors!

Cover the inside of the pizza box with aluminum foil or reflective paper, cut the pieces to fit. This will reflect the light. This is also a good step in which to cover the box in some sort of black material such as paint, insulating it- allowing it to capture heat more efficiently.

Step 4: Create a Stand

Take the pizza box edges and tape them together with duct tape.

Step 5: Add Your Stand

Attach the edges to the back about 3/4 of the way up, for use as a stand. The stand should be long enough as to allow you to angle the box, increasing the amount of light and heat focused on a certain area.

Step 6: Where to Heat Your Food

Attach the foot long pole-like items together and duct tape a cup on top. If you are heating something other than a liquid, use a plate. Be sure to secure it well, using other methods if necessary.

Step 7: Finishing Touches

Poke your cup on a stick through the back of the pizza box. You can use this as a stand outside by poking it into the ground, although in this picture, I used a small bucket to keep the end in place. You can heat water using this method, although if you attach a plate to the stick instead, you can cook food. It may be necessary to experiment with the angle of the box lid due to conditions to get a good outcome.

Congratulations! You have created a solar oven!
