Intro: Simple Transistor Socket or Other Pin Type Electronic Part

I did this beacause im making a cnc machine and i need a 12v regulator for the driver encloser. And this will let me change the regulator if it burns out without having to desolder it.

STEP 1: Parts and Tools

The tools you need are

-dremel with sanding acc.
-floppy drive power cable
-sharp knife like a razor blade
-side cutters
-knife or toothpick

STEP 2: First Step

First youll need to take out the yellow and black wire.  You can do this by putting a knife tip in the connector opening and push the knife in and pull out the wire.  Put the wires aside for a minute.

STEP 3: Second Step

next youll nedd to cut the far part of the plug with the razor blade.

BE CAREFUL RAZOR BLADES ARE SHARP!!!!!!

with that said next youll take the dremel and sand the edge where you cut and also sand the bump on the back of the plug

STEP 4: Lastly

next just put the yellow wire back in and leave out the black when you put in the transistor the polarity and out put are marked with the differant color leads

red= +
black= -
yellow= out

very good idea, thanks. 很好, 谢谢!
The is a great idea, I'll try and remember it next time! Not limited to regulators, you could use this for power transistors too (mind the right connections though!)
right itl also work on rgb leds if you leave the othe pin in place
i did this very same thing for my zapper
