Pattern Notes

Chain stitches at the beginning of rows do not count as a stitch

Step 2: Make Your Starting Chain

Tie a slip knot

Chain 49

Row 1: HDC in second ch from the hook and across the chain (you will have a total of 48 HDC stitches)

Step 3: Make Your Hat

Rows 2-36: Ch 1, working in BLO-HDC across. You will have 48 stitches in each row, and you are essetially making a large rectangle.

To seam the hat together, fold your rectangle in half so that Row 1 and 36 are touching. Slip stitch through Row 1 and 36, working them together to create the seam. In this step you are essentially creating a large tube shape. When you finish your seam, tie off your yarn and leave a long tail (approx 10")

Step 4: Finishing Touches

Cinching the top of the hat: Using a yarn needle, weave the long tail of yarn back and forth through the top edge of the hat. Pull tight and tie the yarn so that the top stays closed.

Make a pom pom. You can make them freehand, but I love the Clover Pom Pom Makers! So much easier! When you tie your pom pom, leave long tails on both sides for attaching the pom pom to the top of the hat (as pictured)

When you are finished, weave in your ends and now....

Step 5: Wear It!

Enjoy your warm, stylish and super simple hat! These can be easily adjusted in size and made for the whole family.
