Introduction: Sliding Drawer
I made a sliding drawer box using Boxes.py, and re3 Netlify.
Supplies
12 by 12 birch slab
Laser cutter
Computer
Step 1:
The first step was going to https://boxes.hackerspace-bamberg.de/SlidingDrawer?language=en and grabbing a picture of all the parts.
Step 2: Creating Laser Engravings
The second step was to bring that PNG into this software to finish creating the box: https://re3.netlify.app/designer?model=gen8titan.
Step 3: Final Touches
The criteria were to avoid waste, squeeze it into a 12 by 12, and increase its size. After Creating the perfect dimensions to fit the 12 by 12, I downloaded the file and laser cut the outlines at 90% speed and 60% power. I used 80% speed and 50% speed for the Rasterized pictures for design. High speed, lower power is really good for laser cutting images.
Step 4: Assembly
After laser cutting, I laid out all my pieces and assembled them to ensure they were functional.
Step 5: Reflection
There were many mistakes, as my first start involved me dragging to make the box bigger, which was a big fault and caused me to restart. Other than that, it was pretty smooth, and this was a good learning moment and easy, too.
