Introduction: Slot-in Puzzle With My Name and Family

My little nephew loves puzzles and slot-in-shapes, he loves the colors, the shapes, and the challenge of putting together figures over and over again.

For this trip (he doesn't live in the same city as me) I decided to make him his own puzzle with the letters of his name, which are 9 in total.

Supplies



- a 40 x 40 centimeter MDF board that I already had

- a jigsaw

- a paper sheet to draw the model

- A pen

- white paint

- brushes 

- acrylic paint

- another board for the back

-glue

Step 1: Design

1.-The first stage of this project was to design the insert parts , I wanted to put his name in the center making an arch and add different designs that were meaningful to him. Or he can at least understand when he's a little older.

In addition to the letters I drew: an owl and a frog (aunt and cousin), a bee and a lion (grandma and uncle), a crocodile (his other uncle) a panda (his dad) a mouse and her daughter (his mom and sister) a beetle (his grandfather) and a cheetah (me, his aunt) and a ladybug (his great-aunt) and Gandalf (his dog)

To fill the space I added means of transportation that he loves so much.

Step 2: Trace the Design

2.- To trace the design on the MDF board (previously painted white) I marked the entire back of the drawing with the lead of a pencil to trace it on the board. This took me a long time, the marks are not very noticeable in the photos, but I was finally able to trace it.

Step 3: Cut Cut Cut


3. With the jigsaw I cut the letters of the name FRIEDRICH. To get the saw through I had to cut the edge of the board a little.

I fixed this mark left by the saw cut by mixing some glue with sawdust.

Step 4: Paint It Bright

4. To paint I used brightly colored acrylics, depending on the designs. And finally I traced the contours with a black line.

Step 5: Glue It

5. Once in his city, I cut a board with what I had on hand and glued it to the back of the mdf. For this I used 

glue.

Step 6: Add These Colored Thumbtacks


6. For him to take the pieces in and out, I added these colored thumbtacks.


He loved it!
