Introduction: Small Table
I made a table because it is something helpful and big that I thought I could turn into something small.
Supplies
The only supplies I used for this project were my computer, wood, and super glue. I used my computer to design and make the table on Onshape with proper measurements to give me a visual of how it is supposed to look and where everything is supposed to go. Once the onshape was complete I used wood to make the parts that consist of the table. Once the parts were cut and ready I used super glue to glue the parts together to form the table.
Step 1: Top
The first step was to make the top part of the table on Onshape. I made a sketch on the top plane and made a center point rectangle for it to have the shape of a table. Once there was a rectangle I put the dimensions I wanted the table to be which I chose to be 2x4 inches. When the rectangle was the correct size I extruded it .47 inches because that was the thickness of the actual wood I was going to use. After that the top part of the table was complete.
Step 2: Legs
The second step was to make the 4 legs for the table. I created a new part studio and made a sketch on the front plane. Again I made a center-point rectangle on the plane and made the dimensions 2x0.5 inches. When the dimensions were correct I extruded the part to 0.47 inches just like the top part because of the size of the wood I was going to use. When that was completed a leg of the table was finished.
Step 3: Assembly
The third step was to assemble the part studios I had made. Although I only made one leg I could copy it and make the other three since they should be the exact same size. I imported the top part and leg three times to prepare all the pieces. When all pieces were there I fastened each face of the legs to each corner of the top part to make the shape of the table. When all pieces were fastened it was now a completed table and it was now time to make it in real life.
Step 4: Wood Pieces
Once the digital table was done it was time for the actual table to be built. I got a piece of wood to begin cutting my pieces. I first measured with a dial caliper a 2x4 inch piece of wood and marked straight lines with my pencil. I then cut it with a miter saw and had the top part of the table. With the wood that was left, I measured a 2x0.5 inch piece for the leg and cut 4 pieces that exact size of them to all be the same. Then I sanded out all the pieces so they could be smooth and could be glued together perfectly.
Step 5: Gluing and Finishing
When I had all the pieces cut and ready I glued them with super glue. I glued each face of the leg to each corner of the top part just like on Onshape. When the pieces were glued on I let them dry and then my small table was ready.
