This is brilliantly simple. I'll be amazed if you don't know it already. But, just in case... It's not my idea, I got it from Subaru. If you spend a lot of time with your head in here, like me, do this. You'll need a centre punch, a hammer, a drill, and a drill bit (in my case a 10mm).

Step 1: So Easy

This is the factory bonnet/hood open position.

Step 2: So Easy

This is the new improved open position. All I had to do was drill a hole in the guard/wing. There was already a factory suitable hole in the bonnet/hood. Unplug the bottom/hinge end of the stay/support and shift it to it's new improved position.
