Learn how to make your own firecrackers from cheap dollar store materials!

Step 1: The Supplies

The supplies you need for these simple yet cool firecrackers are pretty cheap and easy to get. All you need is:

MANDATORY SUPPLIES

1. Sparklers the average sparklers from your dollar store will work. You need 15 8 inch sparklers minimum (if your buying bigger sparklers you can decide how many you need) The more sparklers you have the better.

2. A knife or pestle and mortar

3. Toilet paper tube (if making bigger firecracker) or gatorade bottle cap (for smaller yet just as good firecrackers)

4. Duct Tape (normal tape will work fine to)

5. Tin Foil or aluminum foil.

6. A lighter (You must have this unless your not planning to light your creation lol)

7. Sugar (uneeded but is a good idea, just normal sugar)

EXTRA SUPPLIES (NOT MANDATORY)

1. Flash paper. (Can be bought at any magic store. This can get a bit expensive though..)

2. Caps (any normal cap gun caps will work, not really needed)

3. Dryer Flint (normal average dryer flint people, nothing special)

4. Sugar (again normal sugar)

5. Saw dust (I would use it cause it adds a great more emphasis into the 'explosion')

Step 2: The Powder

Alright now take your sparklers and the knife or pestle and mortar you've got and begin crushing the flamable grey solid stuff into fine powder. The finer the powder, the better Now after you've created the fine grey powder add a small bit of sugar to your mix. (Add half a tea spoon for over 20 sparklers ground up) Stir up the light grey mix.

IF YOU'RE USING SAW DUST OR FLASH PAPER IN YOUR FIRECRAKER ADD IT NOW INTO YOUR MIX. FOR THE FLASH PAPER, RIP INTO SMALL PIECES. DO NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT OF SPARKLER DUST WITH THE AMOUNT OF SAWDUST. IF YOUR ADDING CAPS, PLACE THEM INSIDE MIX

Step 3: The Body

Read the appropiate step for the materials you have chosen.

TOILET PAPER TUBE BODY

Ok so take your tin foil/aluminum foil and get 2 large sheets big enough to be able to cover the inside of your tube and the outside. Leave one end of the tube open while sealing the other. Make sure the raped foil is secure. Duct tape the sealed end enough so it is a solid and think cover.

GATORADE BOTTLE CAP BODY

Alright take your knife now and punture a hole in the middle of the top plastic part big enough to easily fit a sparkler into (or fuse string).

Step 4: The Fuel

Now take your ground up powdered pile and pour it into your body of your firecracker nice and neatly.

Make sure once you've poured in all your powder that you have hardly any space left, meaning NO AIR!

Step 5: The Fuse

For the fuse if you want to be simple just cut the metal rod part off you sparkler enough so you can fit it into your body and still be able to light it from the outside once you've fully sealed your body.

The way I like to do just for fun is to get some yarn and gasoline or lighter fluid and soak the yarn in it for awhile. Let it dry and you have super flamable string! For the fuse string simply follow what you would've done if you had used a sparkler.

Step 6: Home Stretch

Read the step only considering the supplies you have picked:

TOILET PAPER TUBE BODY

Now that you have your fuse ready and mixed powder ready seal the last opening on the tube covering the powder from escaping. Puncture a big enough hole in the taped seal that you have just made big enough for you fuse to poke out. (See picture #1)

GATORADE BOTTLE CAP BODY

Now that you have your fuse ready and mixed powder ready seal the opening on the bottom of the cap covering the powder from escaping. Place your fuse through the hole you punctured into the cap earlier on. Make sure everything is secure! (See picture #2)

Step 7: You're Done!

Now that you're done, LIGHT IT!!!!!!! This step is pretty self explanatory but whatever.

FIRE CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS THEREFORE TAKE CAUTION WITH YOUR SOMEWHATE DANGEROUS CONTRAPTION! ADULT SUPERVISION IS A GOOD IDEA. PLEASE ALSO LIGHT YOUR FIRECRACKER IN A SAFE LOCATION!
