Introduction: Spicy Cauliflower Dish
Cauliflower might not be everyones all time favorite, and that's okay. Spicy foods might not be everyones favorite as well, and that's alright. But, when you combine those two things, what do you get? A effortless, straighforward, brisk, cauliflower dish with a kick of spicy to it.
Step 1: What You'll Need
- One head of cauliflower
- One lime
- One tablespoon of Siracha
- Two green onions (Chopped)
- Three tablespoons of soy sauce
- One tsp of salt
- One tablespoon of olive oil
- Two tsp of garlic powder (Or you can use an actual garlic; minced)
- Frying pan
- Stirring utensil
- Cutting board
- Gloves (optional)
(This dish makes around three servings!)
Step 2: Time to Chop!
After you have your ingredients set up and ready to go, you're now ready to begin chopping! Starting off with the cauliflower, you'll notice that there's one head altogether and then little ones that start branching out. You're going to start separating those into multiple little heads like in the picture above. I personally break them apart with my hands because it's easier, or you can chop them with a knife if that's your preference.
Next, you're chopping your green onions. you can make them into square-like shapes or circle-like shapes like how I did, just make sure they're not too enormously cut. Be sure to save some green onions for the end!
Step 3: Setting Up Your Pan
Before doing anything else, you should set up your pan before cooking! I grabbed a medium sized frying pan, which fit all of the cauliflower nicely. I then put about one tablespoon of olive oil onto my pan, in between low and medium heat.
Step 4: Let It Cook
After you've put the cauliflower onto the frying pan, it should be left cooking for about eight minutes. (With stirring it every few minutes) When the eight minutes are up, It should have a yellowish tint to it, meaning that its slowly cooking.
Step 5: Adding Flavors
When your cauliflower has that yellowish tint and looks like it's cooking, the next step would be to add the flavors! I used Spice Islands garlic powder since it adds tons of savory flavor to what you're cooking. I added around two tsp of garlic powder in a circular shape to mix into it all around. Stir.
After, It's time to mix in the lime! I added one lime cut into two. Like before, I added it in a circular motion.
Next, it's time to add the soy sauce. I added about three tablespoons of soy sauce, again, in a circular motion. After that, you should stir continuously while waiting for five minutes while the flavor sinks into the food.
Step 6: Adding the Siracha
When five minutes have passed, It's the time we've all been waiting for; the Siracha. I added around one tablespoon of siracha for that kick of that spiciness. Those who want even more of the spicy kick, add two tablespoons. (Note: Don't add in too much siracha, it could overpower the rest of the flavors, so add within reason.) Stir in the siracha until it has that orangey tint to it. If you notice you have a little puddle of "juice" on your pan, that's totally okay. It adds in more flavor in the food while its cooking!
Step 7: Adding the Finishing Touch
After stirring in the siracha, you should almost immediately add in the chopped green onions to avoid overcooking the cauliflower. As you can see it the picture above, I added a little more siracha in a circular motion and then added the chopped green onion in the center. stir until everything blends together. Add the one tsp of salt.
After you stir, turn off the heat. You're ready to serve!
Step 8: Serving Your Dish
When serving, you can garnish with the leftover chopped up onions and serve with a side of a cut lime. Enjoy your spicy masterpiece! :)
