Introduction: Spotty Changeable Paper Necklace
Hi! In this instructable I'm going to tell you how to make this necklace. The pendant is changeable in a few ways. You can clip on an other pendant in no time or you can decide to turn the blacklight on. I hope you like it!
Step 1: What Do You Need
To make this necklace, you will need the following:
- pencil
- scissors
- glue
- paint
- thick paper (it's between paper and cardboard)
- wire
- brush
- closure
- chainlet
- round nose plier
- blacklight nailpolish topcoat
- safety pin or an other sharp object
Step 2: Draw a Shape
You need to start by drawing a shape. There are no big rules on this part, just draw a shape you like.
Step 3: Cut Out Your Shape
Cut your shape out as precisely as possible.
Step 4: Tracing
Trace your cut-out ten times on the thick paper. If you don't have thick paper, you can also use regular printer paper, then you need to trace it twenty times.
Step 5: Cutting and Glueing
Cut out all ten of the shapes and glue them on top of eachother. the thinckness it has here is the thickness your pendant will have. If you think it's too thin, you can always trace, cut and glue an extra shape on.
Step 6: Painting
For painting the pendants I used acrylic paint. I don't know if it works with other kinds of paint as well, I just really liked these colours.
Start by painting the front side and letting it dry. If needed, paint two layers. You can see the difference of one and two layers of paint by looking at picture three and four.
When the front side is completely dry, paint the sides of your pendant. Your fingers will probably get a layer of paint too at this point. Let the sides dry. At last paint the back side and let it dry.
Step 7: Piercing
Step 8: Coating
Take the blacklight nailpolish and apply it to the pendant. Wait for it to dry, it looks really cool but still a bit scary when your fingers light up.
Step 9: The Necklace
Add wire to the pendant and bend a ring from it. Take another piece of wire and bend it into a loop. Add the closure to the loop. Add the loop with closure to the chainlet.
Step 10: Every Day
I made seven pendants with the idea of being able to wear something different every day of the week. I decided to go with seven differrent colours that I think look awesome next to eachother.
Step 11: And Then the Lights Go Out
So, I put my light out and my blacklight on...
I hope you enjoyed the instructable and have fun making!!!
