Star Wars Hallway

Intro: Star Wars Hallway

we build a star wars themed "hallway". It has 2 sides, the white side which tells Luke's story in Lego and the black side which tells Darth Vader's story in Lego. The photos aren't very good but I hope you get the general idea. We build this last year but I didn't have the time to post this yet.

materials:

- mdf 18mm

- mdf 12mm

- led lights

- TL lights

- black paint

- white paint.

STEP 1: Sketching It Up.

the hallways are 8 meter long and both 2.5 meters wide. we tried to make it look and feel like the inside of a spaceship. I first made a rendering in sketch up to see if the idea would work and keep the sizes of the lego building pieces in mind.

STEP 2: Building It.

we started out with making the upright pieces in mdf (18mm) and adding the bevel pieces. these were our starting points. after that we placed the upright pieces an equal distance apart from each other, making sure that we could fit 1 sheet of mdf (1220mm*3050mm) between them. we then added beveled pieces to the large mdf sheets to make it look like the inside of a spaceship. on the one side we made big cut-outs so people could see the Lego story. in the middle of the mdf sheet I drew out a line for the led-strips, we then added pieces of mdf to fill out the sheet and give everything a space ship feel but leaving a 10mm gape for the led-strip. we constantly varied between using 18mm and 12mm mdf pieces.

STEP 3: Painting and Lights

we used an airless spraygun to paint both sides to give it a better finish and made all the cut-outs for the lego stories.

we then fitted the led lights, green on the white side and red on the black side. in the middle we mounted some tl-lights

STEP 4: Finished

after the painting an lighting was done, the lego-guys came in to put up their great display's. we secured the lego by screwing 10mm thick plexiglass to cover the cut-outs and make sure nobody could reach the lego displays.

enjoy
