1st Block

Step 1: The Legs

Cut the 1x8 10ft lumber[s] into 8 1.5x30 in. pieces, 8 1.5x14.5 in. pieces

Step 2: Glue

Glue together each piece to make 4 30 in. legs and 4 14.5 in. supports

Step 3: Drill

Using the pocket hole jig, drill in 2 holes near the edges of the 14.5 inch long braces, as shown above, on both ends of the brace.

Step 4: Base

Cut the 1x10 6 ft. lumber into 2 17.5 x 8.75 in. slabs then glue them together securely

Step 5: Adding on the Braces and Base

Screw in the braces 1 foot above the end of the leg and combine all legs to create a sturdy bottom. After that, screw on the glued base onto the legs evenly so that the base lays level and balanced on top of the legs.

Step 6: Base Support

Cut a 1x8 10 ft. lumber into 2 more 1.5 x 17.5 inch parts. then screw them in to the bottom of the base.

Step 7: CNC Stool Seat

Using the VCarve program, import the Bitmaps(provided above), then convert the files into vectors and use the CNC machine to cut out the stool seat shape along with the back support. Make 3 of them.

Step 8: Base Seat

Get your 3 seat parts from the CNC and glue them on top of the base. 2 at the edge and 1 at the middle and then screw them in for more security.

Step 9: Seat "Logs"

Get 0.5 inch thick plywood and cut out 19 1 x 17.5 inch strips, Cut out 4. 4 x 17.5 inch strips, and then cut out 1 4 x 17.5 inch strip. Use the hand router to round the edges of the strips.

Step 10: The Front

Drill in the 2 front pieces for the stool, as shown in the picture above, so that there is more stability for the logs

Step 11: Logs

Get the 1 inch logs, lay 16 strips out along the bottom seat and then glue them on with wood glue. After they are laid out, glue on the 4 inch strip then the 2 inch strips, and then finish off the top with the 2 leftover strips on top. Make sure to screw in the back pieces so that they stay secure and on the back support.

Step 12: Front and Back Top Brace

Use the 2 x 14.5 inch strips of wood and glue them onto the front and back of the legs. Nail the supports in for the front and back to keep them secure.

Step 13: Sanding

After all of the logs are done gluing, sand the logs for the seat. Move up on grits to make the seat as smooth as possible.

Step 14: VOILA
