Introduction: Sugru and Wire Hanger Wall-Mounted Hook

About: I like to make things with ardiuno

Recently, I became aware of Sugru, however, I was not able to afford any at the time.  When I saw the Sugru Contest, and the offer for free Sugru, I was ecstatic.  I was lucky enough to get some free Sugru, so now here's my Instructable!

Step 1: Background

I go to a Military school where I cannot hang my bathrobe and towel up in the latrine.  Instead, I must hang it up in my room.  There are hooks on the door, however, when I hang my robe and towel there, it blocks my mirror.  To solve this, I made a wall mounted hook with Sugru and a wire hanger!

Step 2: Required Items

Here's a list of what you need:

Materials:
Sugru
Wire Hanger (I used the type that has the cardboard tube at the bottom for hanging pants, however the type with just wire is fine, too.)

Tools:
Needle-nose Pliers
Scissors

Step 3: Cut the Hanger

First, you need to cut the hanger to a workable size.  Make a cut before the bend at the neck of the hanger (closest to the hook part)  and another before the wire bends into the cardboard tube.  Use your pliers to take out any bends you might have in your piece of wire.

Step 4: Shape the Hanger

Next, you need to bend the hanger into an octagonal base that will rest against the wall, and a hook.  First, use your pliers to bend the wire into an octagon, or as close as you can get, then bend the longer end into the center.  At the approximate center, bend the wire up at a 90 degree angle.  From here, bend the wire into a hook shape.  The way it looks is entirely up to you.

Step 5: Apply Sugru

Now its time for the fun part!  Follow the instructions on the package and open up ONE 5g Sugru "sachet."  Next roll and flatten a fourth of the Sugru.  Begin to form the Sugru around the hook itself.  Next, start coating the base portion by adding a little bit of Sugru at a time. Once it is fully coated, it is ready to mount!

Step 6: Mount!!

Now your hook is coated in Sugru, it's time to stick it to the wall.  Figure out where you want your hook to go and firmly press it against the wall.  Use what remains of your "sachet" to fill the space inside the octagonal frame.  I had to use half of another "sachet" to completely fill the gap.  Finally, add Sugru where needed for extra support and make any final adjustments. Let it dry for 24 HOURS

Step 7: Finished!

Now that the Sugru has set for 24 Hours, go ahead and use it!
Just remember, do not hang any heavy items or anything potentially dangerous.
