Some nice little projects to do for this summer using some of the DIY Technology kits from Tech Will Save Us!

Step 1: Lighthouse - DIY Thirsty Plant Kit

You'll need: Card, Foam Board or Stiff cardboard, Tape, Scissors, Blade

1. Cut out a large cone shape from your card, cut an opening towards the top that will be able to fit our solar panel thought. The use your blade to cut a slit below the hole you've just cut. Stick both ends together to make your base

Step 2: Lighthouse- Step 2

2. Use your foamboard or card to cut out a circle and cut a thin rectangle from its centre. Make sure the circle is wider than the top of your cone.

Step 3: Lighthouse- Step 3

To recreate the Thirsty Plant Circuit, first cut a rectangular piece of card with a wider piece of sticking out of each side, make sure the wider pieces you have cut over the rectangle you cut from your disc.

Step 4: Lighthouse- Step 4

Cut a small window for your LED. This should be a little bigger than your LED

Step 5: Lighthouse- Step 5

Recreate the template that is on your Thirsty Plant Kit acrylic and stick all your components through the holes.

Stick the solar panel through the hole you cut and wedge another piece of card into the slit you cut to make a stand for it.

Step 7: Lighthouse - Step 8

Stick a little hat on your lighthouse and you're done!

Step 8: ​Sea-waves - DIY Synth Kit

Sea-waves Synthesizer

You'll need: One piece of stiff cardboard, coloured card, scissors, glue or double sided tape, circle cutter.

1. Cut a hole in your stiff cardboard for the speaker and your three potentiometers ( we've moved them all to the same side)

2. Stick a background color onto the cardboard and add a sun around your speaker hole.

3 To make the large wave mark where to place holes for your potentiometers before poking some holes through them and cutting the waves out.

4. To make some smaller waves that move we need to cut out the waves and a small rectangle of card that will connect the waves to the potentiometer. Poke a hole in the rectangle that will fit over the potentiometer snugly and attach the wave to it.

5. Place the three smaller wave onto the potentiometers and then add your large cover waves onto the front. Start making waves with your own synthesizer

Step 9: Crab - DIY Instrument Kit - Step 1

You'll need: Card, glue or double sided tape, blu tak.

1. Cut out your crabs body, add some eye stalks and try to match them up to the LEDs to give your crab some eyes.

Step 10: Crab - DIY Instrument Kit - Step 2

2. Your crab will need some legs so cut out six small back legs for your crab and attach them to the underneath of the body!

Step 11: Crab - DIY Instrument Kit - Step 3

To make our longer pinchers cut out your crab claws and strips of card that reach from the body to the top of the speaker and attach to the underside of the body.

Step 12: Crab - DIY Instrument Kit - Step 4

Use some blu tack to stick your crab onto the chip on your instrument, bend your long arms twice or three times until the claws are sitting on the instrument.

Step 13: Crab - DIY Instrument Kit - Step 5

Use your crabs new folded elbows to get your crab to sing!

Step 14: Bucket Speaker - DIY Speaker Kit -

1. Place your exciter on your beach bucket!

Step 15: Electrodough Fish - DIY Electro Dough Kit - Step 1

You'll need: Conductive dough, insulating dough, LED, Battery Pack

Step 16: Electro Dough Fish - Electro Dough Kit - Step 2

Make a ball from your insulating dough and push an LED into it. The legs of the LED should be poking out on opposite sides.

Step 17: Electro Dough Fish - Electro Dough Kit - Step 3

Create the fish head and body from conductive dough and stick them to either side of the LED

Step 18: Electro Dough Fish - Electro Dough Kit - Step 4

Add your battery pack and watch your fish light up
