Introduction: Super Simple Copper Bracelet

This is how to make a copper bracelet from capillary copper tubings and some hammering in no time at all!

Step 1: Materials

What you will need for this instructable guide is:

  1. Capillary copper tubing (5mm/~1/20th of an inch in diameter)
  2. Plastic mallet/hammer
  3. Metal file
  4. Smithing hammer, however an ordinary hammer is fine too.
  5. An anvil or just a large flat piece of steel.
  6. A circular object that you can use to bend the braclet into shape.
  7. A metal saw

Note: The length varies from person to person. I recommend that you simply measure your wrist circumference and mark the tubing with the corresponding length and saw the piece of with a saw.



Step 2: Flattening the Tube

This is the easiest and most fun part. Hammertime!

Take your tubing and simply hammer it flat on an anvil or a flat steel surface. Note that the copper can wrinkle if you hit it too hard from the very beginning, so be patient.

Step 3: Rounding the Edges

Take the file and file both ends so they are round and smooth so that they are not going to scratch your skin when you put it on or remove it.

Step 4: Bending the Braclet Into Shape

Lastly, bend the flattened copper tubing into your desired shape with a circular object and use the mallet to gently hammer it into a curve so that the ends almost meet each other. Again, the gap between the ends varies depending on the person. The gap should be a bit snug when you put it on so that it doesn't fall off easliy.

Step 5: Final Step: Polishing (optional)

I took a powertool and a circular nylonbrush and polished the surface with it. You could take it to a polishing wheel and make it shine like a mirror but I don't have that equiment so i sticked to the primitive solution.

Depending on how much the object in the previous part smudges your copper piece or not, perhaps you should do this part before the one before this, as I learned it the hard way.
