Introduction: Swan Carved From an Apple

About: I am from the land of Louisville, Kentucky locked in a tower high above the clouds! When I'm not in school, I am always creating something. It's just me! I don't do things the "recommended" way. I just get out…

My friend's mom made this once as the centerpiece for a fruit tray and I took a crack at it. So now I am here to show all of you do it as well! :)

Step 1: What You Need

You will need:

a good sized apple

a sharp paring knife

and a cutting board

Step 2: Cut Off One Side of the Apple

Cut off one side of the apple (as shown). This will be the head and neck.

Step 3: Cut a Wedge

Cut a wedge about the size of a quarter of the apple about 1/2 an inch from the center.

Step 4: Cut Another Wedge

Cut a smaller wedge out of the one you just cut leaving about a quarter of an inch of the first wedge.

Step 5: Cut Yet Another Wedge

Cut a smaller wedge from the wedge you just cut so you have sizes resembling the picture. Repeat steps 3-5 for the other side making sure to leave some uncut apple (3/4-1 inch is good).

Step 6: Assemble Wedges

Assemble your wedges as seen in the picture and place them on the body.

Step 7: Cut the Head

Cut the head out of the side of the apple you have left as in the pictures. Make sure you cut off the skin of the side.

Step 8: Cut a Hole

Cut a small hole for the head in the body and stick the neck in there. You now have an apple swan! (you may want to sprinkle it with lemon juice to preserve it)
