This is a quick and easy project to make with things you probably already have on hand. It really adds a nice warmth to your outside decor and, if you use citronella candles, can be an insect repellent! (Please note: since it has an open flame in the finished project I must tell you to make sure the container you use is fireproof and can withstand some heat. And, as with anything involving fire, any children participating must be supervised at all times.) Now let's make this amazing little firepit! It will take you less than 10 minutes!

Supplies

Fire and/or heatproof container

Decorative sand

Decorative polished stones

Citronella tea lights

Step 1:

Fill the chosen container with sand, leaving room to bury the candle part-way. You can use any sand available but I chose to buy decorative sand at the local craft store.

Step 2:

Embed candles in sand leaving a small part of the edge sticking out of the sand around the top. At this point, you can add another color of sand to swirl different colors to match your decor. I chose this one color that matches quite well with my patio furniture.

Step 3:

Next, choose the stones you want to use and place them in the sand, pushing them down slightly to stabilize. Use your creativity and place the stones and candles where you think best.

Step 4:

Your project is finished!!!!! YES!!! It only took a few minutes and now you have this wonderful addition to your outside space! Now it's time to light those candles! (You can also use votive candles. Just use a deeper container and more sand. Bury the candle about halfway into tho sand to stabilize.)
