Introduction: TV Remote User Error - for Android Smartphones
There are so many remotes for different electronics, cable, TV's and DVR's these days that it is sometimes hard for one to tell which remote to use and/or how to use it.
It's time to start messing with your friends and family as you act like they are completely incompetent and unable to use a simple remote control.
Step 1: Download "Quick Remote" App
Before the fun even begins, search for the Quick Remote app on Google Play and download it. It is a free app that allows you to use your phone as a remote for any TV.
Step 2: Set Up the App
Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions.
1. Select a room - Use the dropdown menu at the top left of your phone to select the room in which the cable box is located, then press + in the upper right to add the room to your phone.
2. Select whether you are going to connect your TV or your Cable box
3. Select your cable provider
4. Point your phone at the device and follow the instructions to connect
Step 3: Let the Fun Begin...
Have your phone by you and ask your target to change the channel, turn up the volume, rewind a certain part of a show etc. You can pretend to text or something similar as you ask this so you will be able to see your phone remote and press the appropriate buttons. As soon as they change the channel, press the channel up or channel down button. Wait for their response. If you asked them to turn up the volume, turn it way down. If you asked them to rewind, press play, keep rewinding or fast forward once they begin. Once they are totally baffled as to what is going on, start asking them questions about why they are having so much trouble and what they are pressing and continue to sabotage their efforts. Even the most tech savvy can be fooled as you convince them that it must be the batteries dying on the remote...
