Very cool kit! Have you thought about switching out an item of lower importance for a knife of some sort? Just in case all you have is this kit [trust me, I've been separated from my everyday carry items several times due to various reasons] and you are in a survival situation.

I uploaded my personal Altoids Survival Tin onto this site if you'd like to see how I've arranged mine. :)

I usually carry a knife separately. I rarely carry this kit anywhere anymore. I usually have most of the needed things somewhere else, or in a different form. But, if you do carry a survival kit, it stands to reason that you'll also have a knife with you.

Probably the match stick. I sometimes do that, but then I usually use a larger tin and put a whole heap in.

The first thing recommended if you come in contact with Poison Ivy/ Poison Oak, is wash hands and face with soap and water if you even THINK you came close to it. The stuff can fly around in the wind and you can catch it! If you're somewhere you need to carry this tin, then your likely in proximity of one of these. Ounce of prevention... I would hate to be lost a few days somewhere AND with poison ivy! I would sure find some way to fit soap somewhere!

for getting who knows what off your hands and to clean your hands after dealing with raw animal meat, the last thing you want when you're lost in the wilderness is to get salmonella poisoning.

It might if you're... Umm... Living next to a mountain of... Animal... You-know-what... But then I'd simply leave. If it was for bait I'd just stick with croutons. Wet 'em in the water and there you go.

Okay i'm just going to get this out there,*clears throat*
in nice caring tone*This is to all the altoid tin survival kits, you can't put a respectable survival kit into just an altoids tin. Truthfully no survival kit is respectable. The best survival kit is the one you never have to use. Basically along with the survival kit instructables people should put in a guide on how to use their survival kit and just how to live off of little. People should also include links to whole web sites dedicated to survival, my personal favorite is: http://www.m4040.com/Survival/Survival.htm It is a very good site and has taught me much

Just because these guys make a survival kit doesn't mean they don't know how to survive, and anyway, making survival kits reinforces the survival attitude, as well as being fun.

Look man your just really being a jerk here. When I was a kid my friends and I made similar survival kits and put them in coke bottles, and tootsie roll cans. I think these guys are creative and I am having fun seeing what all they can think of and fit into a tiny package. Lighten up.

I think you might need a new hobby. People can make their own decisions. Some people really like to carry a Leatherman tool, but of course if you ever need a REAL toolkit...

what each item is is important and I thank you for labeling everything but what they are used for can be important too.  like, everyone knows what a match is for, but why you put in a produce bag would be a good question, or what did you put the cotton balls in for?  all this helps people decide what's going to be useful to them.
