You wonder what adding it well here it is in a nut shell. It is basically adding numbers together with the + sign.
So in this Instructable you will help you learn how to add. This is just some basics to get you started with adding numbers.
(Also this is my first able so don't be harsh)

Step 1: Adding Positive Numbers

For the first step with adding numbers you must learn the basics. The first one is adding positive numbers which are numbers that have a higher value than the number zero. An the symbol used for adding numbers are the addition symbol which looks like this "+" . To start off we will add the numbers 1 and 1 together which would look like this "1+1=?". To solve the problem you must know that if you adding one to one there will be two now because when you added the two numbers together your adding another number to that one group "1+1=2". You can also use a number line to help you add numbers together. This is the first step to adding numbers. Now on to step two to adding numbers larger than 1 and less than zero.

Step 2: Adding Numbers More Than One

Alright the next step is adding numbers more than one a good one to start off with is adding 5 and 3. The first to do is put it into form as "5+3=?". Alright a easy way to do this is to the number line and start at the number three(3) where you would then move it up five(5) spaces to get the answer to the problem which would be eight(8). That is a easy way to add numbers greater the zero and one another way to add numbers is to use the object form(which uses everyday items to display math problems). This method involves using objects to represent the numbers a example would be if you had five apples and you receive three more apples you would add the amount of apples you had given you your total.
This Method is good for kids in first grade or lower.

Step 3: Adding Negative Numbers

This step will help you understand to add negative numbers also known as the dark side of numbers. They are the same thing as regular numbers are but they are the exact opposite of the positive numbers. This basically means that they are less than the number zero. A problem with negative numbers would be"-1+-2=?". If you read step one and two you would know that if these numbers were positive it would be three(3). That answer would be wrong though because the number three is greater than the number zero. This means that the sum must be negative three(-3). Why because the sum is less than zero and when you add two and one it will give the answer three.

Step 4: What Happens When You Add a Odd and Negative Number

We now venture into the zone to what happens when you add positive number and negative numbers. When you have positive numbers they are always greater than zero and it is the exact opposite with negative numbers. when you have the positive number 1 and the negative number -1 your answer will not be two(2) because when you have negative numbers they are less than zero which means when a positive numbers are add to the negative numbers the positive numbers value or sum will decrease. With are example problem "1+-1" it will equal zero because with the negative number it reduces the positive number which was one in our case. That is what happens in addition with positive and negative numbers.
