The Endless Column by Constantin Brancusi 3d Print

The Endless Column (often it is called the Column of Infinite) symbolizes the "Infinite Sacrifice" of the Romanian soldiers and it is considered by Sydnei Geist the top point of the modern Art.

The Endless Column stacks 17 rhomboidal modules, with a half-unit at the top. The incomplete top unit is thought to be the element that expresses the concept of the infinite. Brancusi had experimented with this form as early as 1918, with an oak version now found in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The modules were made in the central workshop of Petrosani (Atelierele Centrale Petrosani), assembled by Brancusi's friend engineer Stefan Georgescu-Gorjan (1905–1985), and completed on October 27, 1938. All 17 rhomboidal modules accumulate a total height of 29.3 m.

Step 1: 3d Print It!

My thought was that every model should have a height of 8 cm and 4 cm. Having 16 pieces, it will have a total heigh of 1.28 meters (which is a lot). Feel free to scale it.

With the idea of having a unique sculpture on my desk, behold the 3d print version of Endless Column by Constantin Brancusi. All you have to do is print 15 parts of rhomboidal.stl and one of the base. This will take a lot of time.

The center of pieces is hollow but thick enough for it to hold. I used Super glue Loctite gel (which is not curing imidiatelly) to lock everything in.
