Introduction: The Life Lasting - (X) Pencil

My Motivation: I wanted to make a pencil that was long-lasting. How can I do this? Simple. Attach a sharpener to the end. Never think twice about getting a new one because it's broken.

Difficulty: 4 out of 10.

Thinking about how to improve on the pencil was the hard part. Figuring out how to attach a sharpener at the ending was difficult. Now that there is a plan, all that is to be done is 3D printing!

Materials needed:

- 3D printer

- ABS Plastic material

- Pencil sharpener

- Pencil

-Super Glue

- A drill

Skills needed:

You need to be able to work with TinkerCad

Step 1: Materials

Step 2: Tools

3D Printer

A Drill ( and Drill Bit of course)

Step 3: Steps

3D printing:

Go onto TInkerCad and make a cylinder. This Cylinder's width will be 5/8 of an inch and have a height of 2 inches.

Make sure this has an infill of 50%.

Once you are finished, you will be downloading a .STL file. Upload this to your 3D printer, and print.

Follow the same step, except make the Cylinder's width 3/4 of an inch and make the infill at 0%.

Putting it all together

1. Take the 1st Cylinder and drill a hole (halfway through). Find a drill bit with 4/8 of an inch. Your pencil will fit through this hole.

2. Stick the sharpener through the 2nd cylinder. The sharpener link I posted will fit perfectly.

3. Super glue both of the cylinders together.

Step 4: Media

Follow the instructions and you will easily be able to print the correct model for the X pencil! I say this because I am not able to share my Tinkercad Files online unless I pay extra.

Step 5: Conclusion

To summarize, this pencil will make life easier for you. You won't have to get up to sharpen your pencil and there could potentially be less distraction inside a classroom setting.

I would love to hear your perspective on the effectiveness of my Pencil. Thank you for reading!
