Introduction: The Seventh Glitch

About: I am student from South Africa at the Tshwane University of Technology pursuing in Electrical Engineering. Nothing excites me more than Electrical components.

The project I made which I call it the Seventh glitch simply because from 7-9 the red LED is off to indicate that the limit is reached which is from 7-9.This Project was made by a student from the Tshwane University of technology which is in South Africa. I had limited resources which I got from school as I am Studying Electrical Engineering therefore, I combined the limited resources I had to make this project. We can apply this in Elevators, digital clocks, scoreboards, in electronics labs for testing binary inputs.

Supplies

  1. Resistors
  2. LEDs(Red,Orange,Green)
  3. Breadboard
  4. Multimeter
  5. 4-bit switch
  6. Jumper wires
  7. Seven Segment display
  8. 9V Battery
  9. 74ls47 IC

Step 1:


  1. Open Proteus & simulate on proteus before building the circuit physically

Step 2:

  1. Connect the circuit according to proteus
  2. Gather all the required supplies such as Resistors, Leds(Red,Orange,Green),Breadboard,Multimeter,4-bit switch, Jumper wires, Seven Segment display,9V Battery,74ls47 IC
  3. Connect the resistors to the positive terminal of the battery the to the switch
  4. Ground the switches
  5. Connect resistor 4 to pin 7 of the 74LS47 IC
  6. Connect R3 to pin 1 of the IC
  7. CONNECT R2 to pin 2 of the IC
  8. Connect R1 to pin 6 of the IC
  9. Connect the seven Segment to the 74LS47 IC & make sure to power the seven segment to VCC or positive terminal.
  10. Pin 8 of the IC must be grounded with pin 18 connected to VCC which is the positive terminal of the battery
  11. Red LED connected to pin 6 of the IC & ground
  12. The Orange LED Connected to pin 6 and 2 of the IC with pin to anode and pin 6 to cathode
  13. The green LED has cathode connected to pin 2 and anode connected to VCC



Step 3:

Now its time to power our circuit & observe the behaviour. Power the circuit. Input binary numbers on the switch & observe the outcome.

Diode 1 (Green LED): ON when input is 0-3

Diode 2 (Orange LED & Green LED)

Diode 3 (Red LED): OFF when input is 7-9.
