Introduction: Tie Blanket

Don’t know how to sew? No problem! Tie blankets are the easiest most fun project to do on a cold winter day. It’s that time of year were the cold weather is upon us and it’s time to get cozy. The steps are simple and the project is fairly cheap.

Step 1: Supplies

The first step is going to the local crafts store and picking out two pieces of fabric meaning any type of design, color, length etc. Make sure to have a pair of fabric scissors, a ruler or a straight edge, and a hard surface.

Step 2:

Lay the two pieces of fabric wrong sides together so the design sides are facing out. Sometimes is easiest to line up two corners and then cut off the extra at the ends of the other corner. And other times it may come down to the material was measured exactly the same and nothing needs to be cut off.

Step 3:

With the fabric on top off each other cut off any ends as necessary to make them the same size and length. Make sure to use the ruler for this part so that the fabric ends up straight. If the ruler is not used for this step it could lead to uneven edges. My blanket was pretty even so I didn't need to trim anything off.

Step 4:

Cut out a square from each corner about 3-4 inches this will help so the material doesn’t bunch up and make tying much easier!

Step 5:

Next cut out slits around the whole blanket about 3 inches deep and ½ inch to an inch wide for each piece, make sure the pieces are long enough to tie together and that the scissors cuts through both pieces of fabric.

Step 6:

Finally tie the matching top and bottom slits together in a knot. Its best to tie them in double knots so it stays together after washing. Continue this task until your blanket is complete.
