Step 2: Video Presentation of System

You can watch the step to step build, from the video presentated.

This simple switching performance can be utilize in gadget like Television sets, fans, generators and many more gadget you could think of.
The circuit can be preset to either delay in switching ON and OFF any gadget.

Step 3: Topology

How is a time delay switching circuit developed?
Time delay switching circuit can be developed using,
- Passive electronics topology
- Integrated circuit topology
- Micro-controller topology

Passive electronics uses electronics like resistor, capacitor, diode and many more. This topology, is what we are going to focus in this video demonstration.

Integrated circuit topology, uses high precise I.Cs to set the timing factor for either delay in switching ON or OFF.

Micro-controller topology, uses micro-controller chips, to set a timing. The preset is done using a computer programming language such as C programming language to set instructions for the chips.

Step 4: Basic Explainations

In the field of electric and electronics engineering, delay in switching is a very important concept in any design and development.
Electrical engineers that works on the national grid lines, incorporates a delay switching mechanism,in the 3 phase power line which comes directly from the dam and stepped down at the grid sub-station.
Some of the gadget at home uses a high voltage guard, which delays in switching into gadget once the incoming voltage is higher than the required.
A typical stabilizer system, uses a delay switching, in controlling gadget plugged into gadget into it.

Step 5: Block Diagram

In this development, we are using a simple passive components to make a delay switching circuit, using the simple block diagram.

Step 6: Circuit Diagram

The CIRCUIT diagram is evidently presented.

Step 7: Working Principles

POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT:
The power supply circuit, consist of the 9v source from the battery, the 220uf electrolytic capacitor and the light indicator in series with the 220 ohm resistor, which show the presence of power in the system.

TRIGGER CIRCUIT:
The trigger circuit, consist of the push button only. Once the button is pushed, the circuit instantly get triggered to delay the load in either switching ON or OFF.

CHARGE STORAGE CIRCUIT:
This circuit consist of electrolytic capacitor C2, and the pull up resistor. The capacitor stores its maximum electric charge, which is dependent on the capacitor value, once the button is pushed. Charge from the capacitor is used to ON the switching circuit. Once the button is released, the switch circuit remains ON for little time, which as a result of the pull up resistor, which discharges the charge stored in the capacitor with time.

SWITCH CIRCUIT:
The switch circuit consist of the transistor and the relay coupled to a diode. Once the charge from the capacitor is still preserved with time, when the push button is released, the transistor is switch on as a result of the electric field, and as such, the transistor the transistor activates the relay, which is used to drive any electric load.

Step 8: Implementation

We will implement the circuit, first we assemble the materials.
Next ,using the circuit diagram, we start soldering them.
After the completion, we have the system look like this.

Step 9: Completion

After completing the implication of the CIRCUIT, you will have the System look like this...

Step 10: Utility Components

For test, you will need to set up the utility device that will aid you.
Am using a patrex box and a lamp holder for my set up.

Step 11: Test

We will test the circuit to power OFF the electric bulb, once delayed.
This is an electric fan, we will connect the probes to the circuit and see the result when tested.
The circuit really worked exactly as per designed.

Step 12: Conclusion

Time delay circuit can be made with easy adjustable time features, where in the this circuit is can be achieved by changing the values of the capacitor C2 and resistor R V 1 simultaneously.

Step 13: Recommendation

The time delay circuit can be built with a high precision in time and ease for adjustment using the integrated circuit topology, like the 555 timer IC circuit, and using the micro-controller topology, such as AT-mega 328,which is commonly programmed using the Arduino board.

Step 14: Quick Note

Which of these topology is your preferred choice in terms of,

Efficiency

Low cost

And time specification.
