Introduction: Tire Ottoman

These instructions tell you how to make a rope ottoman out of tire. However, you do not necessarily need rope to decorate the tire, you can decorate the tire in whatever material of your choosing and however you like!

Supplies

  • Tire
  • 1/2 inch plywood
  • Table saw (optional)
  • 1-inch screws
  • Drill
  • Rope
  • Glue sticks
  • Hot glue gun
  • Table legs

Step 1: Place

Place the tire on flat on the floor.

Step 2: Add Plywood

Place the 1/2 inch plywood on top of the tire. For this step, make sure the plywood is big enough to cover the hole in the tire.

Note: You can buy circular plywood online or you can buy regular plywood and cut it into a circle with a table saw.

Step 3: Drill in Screws

With your drill, drill in eight screws evenly around and in the plywood and tire to make sure the plywood is secure to the tire.

Step 4: Repeat

Repeat steps 2 & 3 on the other side of the tire.

Step 5: Glue

On one side of the tire, place a dot of glue in the middle of the plywood to begin decorating.

Step 6: Rope

Place a end piece of rope on the dotted glue and begin to wrap the rope around itself in a circular motion all around the tire.

Note: Make sure to glue the rope down with a hot glue gun in the process and make sure the rope is close together so parts of the tire will not stick out.

Step 7: Add Legs

Now add table legs to the bottom of the ottoman. You can either glue the table legs to the plywood or you can screw them into the plywood, depending on the legs that you choose.
