Intro: Tool Tips: How to Easily Move Large Boards

Moving large boards of plywood or OSB can be a real hassle sometimes, even if you have two people. This simple trick will make it much easier

Materials
Board
Gloves (not necessary, but help prevent splinters)
Clamps (ratcheting bar clamps are best)

STEP 1: Clamp Clamps Onto Board

Clamp the clamps onto the board (might want to turn them 90degrees)

STEP 2: Carry!

Thats all there is to it. Now just carry it away

If it's a long board you could use a clamp on caster for the corner opposite, diagonally, and drive it around anywhere you want it. Like they used to use to move pool tables around. With a two wheel caster clamp in the center of one edge, one guy could drive, park and spin a 400 lb pool table on a dime, all by himself.

I think the gloves come very handy when it comes to moving other things about the house too. I'm pretty sure a good pair will give you a good grip on most of the things lying around the house!

Putting clamps on movable flat surfaces is applicable not only to large boards but also flattened boxes or even paintings (but just make sure that the paintings are protected). With clamps, moving can be a breeze. I know that there are various types of clamps available to make moving flat bulky items easier and more manageable. Thus, it is always good to find out the various clamp models before buying.

good idea, instructable= simple, and to the point aka good jobs
Good idea. I do declare those look to be Harbor Freight gloves. I have a pair of those gloves myself.
Thanks! Yep, those are western safety. Great gloves.
I love modern clamps! I grew up using pipe clamps, but now own a slew of Irwin Quick Grips. I do all kinds of crazy things with them. When doing wood working along I am constantly building structures by clamping clamps on clamps on clamps on clamps on... You can never have too many!
True! You can never have enough clamps. Thanks!
Actually a great Tool Tip, nice job LinuxH4x0r!

I plan on having it done Wednesday.
