Introduction: Total Wireless Power Bank

About: I like to build everything that works. Diy, how to, RC stuff, gadgets, reviews and everything about technology.

Hi

In this project, I have made the power bank with no switches. There are no charging ports on the power bank. It charges wirelessly and transmits wireless power to charge your mobile. This project involves lots of small parts and I have included all the steps involved in this project sequentially. I hope you will love to make one on your own.

Step 1: Two 4000 MAh Batteries for the Power Bank

I have used 4000 mAh Lipo batteries for collecting the charge in power bank.

Step 2: Connecting Two Charge Modules in Parallel With Charge Receiver

I have connected two charge receiver boards in parallel to boost the charging current to 2 amps to charge the batteries. I have also added charge receiver board in parallel to the input of BMS boards. This board will receive power form wireless charging plate made for it and it would be charging the batteries. The set comes with Tx and Rx. It charges batteries at about 2 Amp.

Step 3: Connecting Output of Charging Boards in Parallel and Adding Batteries + Charge TX Board

I have connected batteries in parallel to the output of BMS boards. Transmitter board with the coil is also connected to the output of the batteries. This board is capable of delivering Qi wireless charger standard output wirelessly to any phone with wireless charge functionality. Just with the input of the battery voltage of 3.6v. to 5v. the output will be 5v wireless Qi standard. Max charging current for the phone is about 1 Amp typical.

Step 4: Making Charge Plate for Power Bank Charging

I have used a micro USB port breakup board. A charge TX board is connected to micro USB port output as shown in the figure.

Step 5: Testing Wireless Charge Functionality of Charging the Bank

I have connected the regular phone charger to the input of micro USB port we connected to the TX board in the previous step. Then placed a charge receiver coil on to the charge TX coil and voila the batteries started charging wirelessly.

Step 6: Fixing Power Bank Charge Transmitter Circuit in Empty Shell

I have fixed power bank charging circuit into the empty shell of old wireless charger base plate. This will charge our power bank wirelessly. Note here that wireless charge receiver and charger 2Amp is a combo circuit board and it can work with each other only it's not universally compatible with Qi wireless charge system.

Step 7: Stuffing Everything Into a Plastic Transparent Box

Our assembly tested earlier is stuffed up into the empty plastic box which will be our wireless power bank. Sadly though I do not have access to the 3D printer yet but you can print a customized plastic shell for the same. See I have placed the power bank on to the charging dock and both the blue LEDs are showing that the power bank is fully charged and is ready to be used for charging any wireless compatible phone. I have not used any switch as it's not required because charging circuit board does not drain power in reverse and charge dissipator board cuts off power after one minute if it does not find any wireless device in its vicinity.

Step 8: Wireless Power Bank Charging the Phone

See I launched the ampere app on my wireless charge capable mobile and the app shows that the wireless power bank is charging the phone at about 640mAh and the peak current goes up to 1 Ampere which is quite decent according to me.

I hope you loved this instructable and are tempted to making one for your self. Thanks for your time reading this instructable.

    Hi
Do you mean to say that the batteries will get damaged if I don't use this shielding plate? So far so good there are no problems with my power bank. More so what you have mentioned is not incorrect at all but the transmitter in the power bank is having the ferrite core and receiver does not have as it will soak all the energy transmitted from the TX board. More so the TX does not even trigger till the compatible receiver is not paced. Also, I have tested that the TX board is having the ferrite core does not allow the radiation of power to be in reverse direction towards batteries, so bro your suggestion is worth noting but my design does not have any flaw as of now specifically of what you pointed out. Thanks for your interest and time to evaluate my work. :)

    Thanks,

Actually, I forgot to mention this part, if someone wants to use older devices to charge wirelessly with this wireless power bank.

This board is to be used in the base plate of the fantasy wireless charger plate to supply it with any mobile charger which will give supply to our TX modified plate to charge the power bank batteries.
    Batteries
I purchased batteries locally but if you are not able to find batteries Lipo ones then use any mobile phone's replacement batteries of 4000 mAh capacity or above if you are lucky to find with more capacity
Feel free to ask questions if any. Thanks for your interest. Have a great day.
