Introduction: Transplanting Tomatoes
summer is up on us, bringing the gardening season with it! And with nothing better than a lush green garden to look at and enjoy I will show you how to hop on and get a start to it by transplanting your very own tomato plant!
Supplies
These are the supplies you will need...
- Potted tomato plant
- Trowel
- An open spot that gets lots of sun
- Wood chips/straw (optional)
- Trellis (optional)
Step 1:
Using a small trowel dig down just enough to fit your plant plus the soil the comes with it plus around two inches.
Step 2:
Firmly press on all sides of container plant is potted in to loosen plant from container.
Step 3:
Pulling gently from the base of the plant lift the plant and it's soil out of it's container.
Step 4:
Place your plant into the previously dug pit and lightly press it down.
Step 5:
Move the soil that was previously dug up back around the plant.
Step 6:
Firmly press the soil around your plant making sure it completely surrounds the plant.
Step 7:
Add wood chips or straw around your plant to hold moisture in the ground and around the plant.
Step 8:
Right after transplanting your tomato plant water it thoroughly with lukewarm to cool water.
Step 9:
And there you go! You've just transplanted you tomato plant!
