Introduction: Treasure Hunt – Touchbox

About: Masters in interactiondesign at AHO

I made a box that includes elements that you can touch, which leads to shell opening. I wanted to create something that gives the sense of accomplishment, especially for children.

Supplies

  1. Planks (laser cut)
  2. Beautiful metal figures
  3. Micro:bit
  4. Wires (also crocodile wires)
  5. TTP229 touch sensor
  6. Sensor:bit
  7. Speaker
  8. Power
  9. Neopixels
  10. Servo

Step 1: Make Micro:bit Code

Make the code.

Step 2: Metal-figures

Make the metal-figures. Just make sure it's metal and touchable.

Step 3: Laser Cut

Lasercut the plates. Remember to have space removed from the plate, to add the wires and electronics. The big box: 340x110. The small plates on top: 220x40.

Step 4: Soldering and Neopixels

Add the neopixels, but here you might have to solder the wires together, to make the pixels connect.

Step 5: Servo and Shell

Add the servo connected to the shell.

Step 6: Attach to Micro:bit and Sensor:bit

Attach power to micro:bit, micro:bit to sensor:bit, and speaker, neopixels, touch sensor and servo to sensor:bit.

Step 7: Attach to Touch Sensor

Attach the wires that are connected to the metal elements to the touch sensor.

Step 8: Test

Test and correct! The video shows the result of the box.
