Intro: Turn 2 Sweaters Into a Sweater Dress

Make a warm and cozy sweater dress you'll love to wear all winter. Combine 2 thrift store sweaters into a simple dress that can be made in an afternoon.

For more upcycling and sewing projects. check out my blog Pivot Point Patterns.

STEP 1: Chop Up the Turtleneck Sweater

Cut out the sleeves and turtleneck of the gray sweater.

STEP 2: Chop Up the Black Sweater

I used an old sweater as a template to cut out the bodice from the black sweater.

STEP 3: Cut Out the Skirt

I used an old pencil skirt as a pattern to cut out the skirt from the gray sweater.

STEP 4: Attach the Sleeves

I attached the sleeves to the bodice using the flat technique.

STEP 5: Attach the Turtleneck

With right sides together, attach the turtleneck to the bodice.

STEP 6: Attach the Skirt

Attach the skirt to the front and back bodice.

STEP 7: Sew the Sides of the Dress

Sew the sides of the dress from the sleeve cuff to the bottom of the skirt.

STEP 8: Enjoy Your Dress

You can make this dress in an afternoon and wear it out to dinner. Enjoy your dress.

You go girl!!! Love it!!

I love this!!! Thank you!!!

Did you use a zigzag or a straight stitch? The gray sweater had pockets. Where did they go?

I really admire your work. I may try something soon.
