Introduction: Turn a Paper Plate Into a Bowl in Seconds

There's nothing more annoying than when you go to get a bowl of chips just to discover there's no bowls. Whether they're in the dish washer or currently in use, it doesn't change the fact that you still need a bowl. Well if you've got a paper plate then in 30 seconds you can have a bowl. This is a trick I learned a while back and have put to use only a couple times, but in those times I was very grateful for that fact that I learned how to do this.

Supplies

In order to do this you'll only need things...

  • one paper plate
  • tape
  • scissors
  • pen

Step 1: Visual Guideline

This is a visual guideline showing where we will be folding and cutting. I drew these lines on with a pen. Do not use a highlighter or any other other marker that will transfer/not fully dry upon application.

Step 2: Fold Along the Horizontal Lines

The first step will be to fold the plate inward along the horizontal lines.

Step 3: Cut Along the Small Vertical Lines

The next step is to take scissors and cut along the small vertical lines. You will stop cutting at the point where the vertical line meets the horizontal line.

Step 4: Fold Again

Fold along the horizontal lines again.

Step 5: Fold the Flaps Up

Now you're going to fold the small pieces of plate between the cuts we just made, upward.

Step 6: Folding It All Together

In this step, you're going to fold the sides of the plate upward and inward. This will create a bowl shape.

Step 7: Tape It Secure!

The last step is to take a two small pieces of tape and tape down the sides of the bowl.

Step 8: Ta-Da Now You Have a Bowl!

There ya go! Now it's up to you what to fill it with.
