Introduction: Turn Your Drawings Into a 3D Model!!
Hi all, thanks for looking at my project. In this project we are going to draw a pattern and turn it into a pencil holder! Here is the things you will need.
- Sharpie
- Ruler
- Blank paper
- Camera (it can be a smart phone)
- Computer with a internet access
- 3D printer (or you can print somewhere else)
Step 1: Let's Start by Drawing a Pattern!
Create a lectangle that has a width of 6~10cm and a height of 8~12cm. Then, start drawing a patterns. Make sure that all the lines are conected to a lectangle line. And also make sure that you use a ruler and a nice thick felt sharpie. After you've done that, then go a head and take a picture of it. Make sure that you take a picture as if it was scaned with a scanner, or another word bird's eye view.
Step 2: Let's Now Turn It Into Svg File.
Now we can convert the picture to a file called svg file. Svg files are often used in CAD, Illustrator and other softwares. It's a file for 2D sketch that computer can reconize instead of just showing it on the screen like png and jpg files. Convert using this handy web tool. http://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-svg After the website converts it for you, please download it to your computer. Now we are ready to move on to making them into a pencil case.
I have also atttched a svg file that you can use.
Step 3: Time to Make It Into a Pencil Holder.
Now, we can make the pattern drawing key to a pencil holder. In this case, I'm using tinkercad, but if you want to use any other cad, you can do that is well. Here is the video of drawing transformation!!

Step 4: 3D Print It!!
Because I didn't have a 3D printer that is good enough to 3D print this detailed model, I orded print on Shapeways. It turned out really nice. If you want to download this, you can download it here. Or click the link below. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:803065
If you liked this project, you should try and make a bracelet version of this!!
Thanks for having a look at my project.
