Intro: UV Printed Wood and Acrylic Display Stand

This week we're making an amazing Point-of-Purchase (POP) display stand
made from our laser engraved TroGlass Colour Gloss fluorescent green cast acrylic and our solid wood cherry.

We've made this project with our Speedy 400 laser cutting machine, our Mutoh ValueJet 426UF UV printer, and our EMX 48" acrylic strip heater. The three essential tools for any signmaking and display company.

STEP 1: Making Our Base

We started by making our base. We put our Fluorescent Green 3mm cast acrylic in our speedy 400 and engraved and cut our design.

STEP 2: Heat Bending Our Base

We then took our finished base and placed it on our heat bender, using the kiss cut marks as guides to ensure a straight bend.

STEP 3: The Wood Display

Next we made our wood display, where we used our Trotec solid wood 5mm cherry.

We placed our wood into our Mutoh ValueJet 426 UF UV printer to apply our design, making sure to add registration marks for our next step.

STEP 4: Cutting Out Our Wood Display

Next we put our UV printed wood into our speedy 400.

The vision camera system then found the registration marks and kiss cut our text in the correct location.

The laser then continued to cut the shape of the display along with holes for the standoffs.

STEP 5: Creating the Text

After our display was cut we proceeded to cut our text to place over our kiss cuts.

For this we used our Troglass Colour Gloss 3mm White Transluscent with 3M Adhesive on the back of it.

We peeled our 3M adhesive and placed the text into its corresponding location.

STEP 6: Cleaning the Acrylic

We used our Novus 1 plastic clean and shine to clean the finger prints off of our acrylic.

STEP 7: Mounting the Standoffs

Next we mounted our standoffs to our acrylic base and then secured our wood display to it with an allan key.

STEP 8: Finishing Touches

We went to a local craft store for our planter, decorative sand, and faux plant and placed it on our display stand.

is it lit with led's? or is that just how it looks.

Hi there, no that's just our fluorescent acrylic that's how it looks. If you put LEDs anywhere then the engraving will glow too (not just the cut edge)
