Introduction: Utensil Box

Our team decided to build a Utensil Box to hold utensils and other small miscellaneous items. The making of this project allowed us to hone our skills of building wooden items. As engineering students in high school, becoming more familiarized with tools such as power saws and sanders helped us get ready for our future jobs.

Step 1: Step 1 - Measure Wood and Mark Wood

(1) 8” x 10”

(2) 3” x 10”

(2) 3” x 6 ¾”

(3) 3” x 7 ⅝”

Step 2: Step 2 - Cutting Out Wood

We cut out the wood using a Table Saw for the marked measurements

Step 3: Step 3 - Glue Wood

We used wood glue to place all of the wood on the base and used clamps to hold them in place while they dried

Step 4: Step 4 - Cleaning Excess Glue

Using paper towels, we cleaned up all of the excess glue in every crevice of the box

Step 5: Step 5 - Sanding

After the box and glue was completely dry, we used sand paper to smooth out every inch of the box

Step 6: Step 6 - Clean the Box

After completing sanding, we cleaned out the entire box free from sand dust’

Step 7: Step 7 - Paint

Our final step is to paint the box with Acrylic Paint of any color, and let it dry to finish

Step 8: Step 8 - Voila

Now you can start storing utensils in your very own wooden utensil box!
