Introduction: VIPER DIY RC Modification

To learn about the mission, build VIPER to use as a learning tool to use in future activities.

Supplies

  • Cardboard or Poster Board ( 2ft x 2ft at least for easy assembly)
  • Can also use small cardboard boxes to make the Rover Body
  • Exacto Knife or Scissors
  • Grey or Metallic Duct Tape
  • Pen or Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Paper (Optional to make eyes and mouth)
  • Any RC Car


Step 1: Rover Structure

Measure the dimensions of your RC car and make a rectangular box-like structure that resembles the Rover Body. Glue these pieces together or use a cardboard box that fits around the RC car.

Step 2: Rover MLI

Using duct tape, cover the outside of the Rover Structure to represent the MLI on VIPER.

Step 3: Rover Mast

Using posterboard or a smaller cardboard box, make VIPER's Mast and Antenna structure. Cover in duct tape to represent MLI. Mate these pieces as shown and then adhere to the Rover Body as shown.

Step 4: VIPER Optional Step

Option Step: Use paper cutouts and markers to make VIPER some eyes and mouth as seen here on VIPER Jr.
