Step 2: Now What?
Now that you have everything you need, lets get started!
Step 3: Install the Li-ion Battery Bank
CAUTION! Li-ion batteries can explode! Especially when linking several together that are not equally charged first!
*
FIRST. Individually charge and ensure that each Li-ion battery is at FULL capacity!
*
Arrange all 4 Li-ion Battery packs the same way, with all wires exiting toward the open space of the Box
*
Connect all the USB cables to the batteries. Connect the incoming USB Power cable into the 1st INPUT of the 1st battery. Now connect a USB cable the OUTPUT of the 1st battery then the other end into the 2nd battery INPUT. Continue doing this until all 4 batteries are wired together leaving one USB cable coming from the OUTPUT of the LAST battery. This last USB cable will power the Raspberry Pi.
Step 4: Install and Secure the Raspberry Pi
The Raspberry Pi is fastened to the Box lid with the use of a 2 piece velcro sticker.
*
The small Break Out Prototyping Board is also held with velcro to the lid. There is a Ribbon cable connecting it to the Raspberry Pi.
*
Now you can Hot Swap your Raspberry Pi into different enclosures Quickly!
Step 5: Install Your Battery Cover
Place a non conductive material on top of the batteries to cover them and make a floor to place your accessories. I used a heavy piece of paper. Carboard would work too.
Step 6: Put the Rest of Your Goodies Inside
Wireless Keyboard
Retractable USB cable
Retractable Cat5 Network Cable
USB cable
SD cards
SD card reader

Step 7: Plug It in Plug It In
plug it in and test it out
Step 8: Success!
Now you can do all kinds of neat things with your Raspberry Pi, with style! Vader Box Style. The Vader Box can be run Headless without a connected video monitor.
I dont even need a video screen to control it. I can log into the pi several ways, including but not limited to: SSH, VNC, USB, WiFi, and Ethernet. I use a VNC viewer in my android phone, and server app on the Raspberry Pi. When I use the viewer app on my phone I securely log into the Pi. Then the phone's screen becomes the Pi's screen. The same way it looks on your monitor through the Pi's HDMI output. When you swipe your finger, the Pi's mouse moves! You can also type with a keyboard in the viewer app. You can execute shells and commands all with a GUI Graphical User Interface. Or over simple SSH.
12v DC Powered
5v DC USB Powered
Lithium Ion Battery Bank Powered
110v A/C Powered
Optional Solar Powered
Step 9: Whats Next???
External antenna mounts for WiFi and other Radio Frequencies.
*
Input and Output jacks built into the Vader Box for Incoming Power, Sensors, Circuits, Modules, Data, Serial, etc. This way the box can stay sealed shut and still be able to be plugged into.
*
Tune into the next project, The Solar Powered Engineer's Clip Board Enclosure.
