Introduction: Wall Painting
Hello everyone! In this instructable, i have transformed my ugly living room wall into this beautiful artwork. For just a school going girl, this project required a lot of hard work and effort. But I was determined to ace this wall painting because I love to create my own designs and put them out there in the world. Plus I have a special place in my heart for nature and all the liveliness it brings with it! :)
Supplies
There is quite a lot of materials required. These are the supplies that I used:
- P320 sand paper
- masking tape
- newspaper
- roller
- white paint of Asian paints (1 liter)
- thick as well as thin marker
- brushes
- primer
- stand
- green colour tubes
- base paint colour
- pencil
- drywall and joint compound
Step 1: Design
Create a rough idea of how you wish to design the wall. What proportions, placement and colour schemes can be decided through this. I used the procreate app on iPad to create a rough design of what I wish to paint. You can always change your designs during the process if you see fit.
Step 2: Prep the Wall
- The old wall and some huge cracks. To fill them use drywall and joint compound.
- scrub the wall with sand paper to ensure evenness.
- apply primer to the wall
NOTE: DONT FORGET TO USE THE MASKING TAPE TO COVER THE EDGES OF THE WALL. THIS WILL PREVENT THE NEIGHBORING WALLS FROM NOT GETTING DIRTY.
Step 3: Apply the Base Coat
use the roller to apply the base coat to the entire wall. Use small flat brush to cover the edges. Apply a second layer of base coat if necessary.
Step 4: Draw
Start drawing your design on the wall with a pencil. My design comprises of flowers and leaves and nature. Drawing different types of leaves and flowers.
Step 5: Outlining
Using thick and thin marker, outline all the big chunks of drawing.
Step 6: Make Colour Palette
Divide the white paint into four. Mix the green colour according to the desired colour palette.
Step 7: Time to Paint
Paint it away! Using all the shades of green, I started to paint all the art work using the normal thin brushes. As you can see in this picture, ladder is very important 😂
