Introduction: Wire Laptop Stand X 4
Laptop stand to keep your laptop cool. Cheap and easy. Make one for you and for three friends.
Step 1: Materials:
Closetmaid 4' wire shelf and pack of Closetmaid endcaps (pack has 24 endcaps, mine had 27)
Step 2: Cut the Shelf
I bought my shelf at Home Depot and they cut it for me. I had them cut it into 4 pieces, each one foot in length. The person who cut my shelf told me that bolt cutters would cut through the shelf, too. The utensil she used was I would describe as a hydraulic bolt cutter.
Step 3: Finish the Stand
Put the end caps on each end of the shelf. That's what the grey thingys are.
Step 4: Put Laptop on Stand
Set the shelf so the overhang edge is towards the hinge on the laptop. Set laptop onto the shelf. You're done. The cost to make 4 of these is $7.50.

I have some chunks of shelving exactly like that. In fact, I didn't use them in my bike rack 'ible. I'm going to fix one up for my wife's lappy tonight. Brilliant!

Well, we tried this, and the lappy kept sliding down the wires. How do you keep yours in place?

I have one of these laptops too, until a few days ago it would only run for about 30 mins before dying, my solution was to simply blow (with your lips around it) into the air intake at the underside and watch the resulting dust cloud and appreciate how fast your laptop used to be.

I checked in the closet and had a piece of shelving material the exact size as my laptop. I had this stand set up in less than two minutes and my wife loves it because the shelving material is the same color as the table. Thanks for the great idea.
