Introduction: Wooden Bull's Head Remix
“He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.”
― Thomas Jefferson, Selected Writings
This project was inspired directly by Ninchen's Wooden Bull's Head instructable.
As soon as I saw the photo, along with his comment that "You can built it in any size ... and use any material", I knew I had to scale it down on my laser cutter.
So, I've remixed a three-foot wall-hanging into a one-inch lapel badge or tie decoration.
I hope you (and Ninchen) enjoy it.
Step 1: Files
Attached are Ninchen's original hanging and his design, as well as the cutting files.
I blatantly copied Ninchen's original, drawing over the design in Inkscape to create an SVG and DXF file to send to the laser cutter.

Step 2: Cutting and Assembly
Having cut the pieces from 3mm birch plywood, I assembled the head, fixing it with PVA woodglue, according to Ninchen's instructions.
While the glue is drying, the head need clamped. For a project this size, clothes pegs did an admirable job.
Step 3: From Wall-hanging to Badge
To turn the project into a badge, you need to add a pin. Craft shops sell "blank" pins of whatever kind you prefer, and they are easily available online.
I decided to recycle a charity badge (I buy a new one every year anyway), fixing it with a blob of super glue (cyanoacrylate or crazy glue).
Step 4: Finishing
That's it, really.
I like the untreated plywood for this project, as an homage to Ninchen's raw wood original, but you could paint it, stain it or varnish it to your own taste.
Wear it with pride.

I love how with only three pieces of wood, you were able to capture the figure and contour of the head. Excellent and amazing!

Thank you, but don't forget that the original design was Ninchen's, I only re-mixed it.

When I first read the title I thought it said something about cheese, therefore leading me to believe you were going to make it out of cheese. Great job nonetheless.

Cheese? OK....?

Paint on the finished product would have added more depth to it. Rest thumbs up for this great idea. You can add couple of small hooks to make it a keychain hanger.

You could make it more "real" with paint, but have a look at the original to see what I mean about not finishing it off.

Ha! Nice work. Ninchen's wooden bull's head made it onto my to-do list, but full size.
This is a clever take on it!
