Introduction: Wooden IPad Stand

This is a great stand for looking at anything communal on an iPad or other tablet. This is a very cheap, short build that can be made with things lying around.

Step 1: Gather Materials and Tools

You will need:

Materials:

  • about 11" of 1x4 wood
  • about 10" of 1x6 wood
  • 3 about 1-inch finishing nails
  • 2 about 3/4-inch finishing nails

Tools:

  • Hand saw
  • Hammer

This is what worked for my iPad 2. Depending on your tablet, you may need bigger or smaller lengths and sizes of wood.

Step 2: Cut the Wood

Measure the longest side of your tablet. Add on a few inches. For me I got 10 inches. Cut that many inches from both pieces of wood.

Step 3: Nail the Main Boards

Take a 1-inch nail and hammer it through the side of the face of the 1x4 so it's going into the edge of the 1x6. Repeat with the other 2 nails so you have 3 evenly spaced nails along the structure. it should have an "L" shape when you look at it from the side.

Step 4: Saw the Stop

Saw a small, about 1/2" bar of wood from the 1x4. This will be the stop to keep the tablet from slipping off the stand.

Step 5: Nail the Stop

Take the 2 shorter nails and use them to nail the stop on the top of the 1x4 on the opposite side of the face from the 1x6. Place your tablet between in the stand to test it out.

Step 6: Finished!

Kick back, relax, and watch a movie on your new stand!
