Wooden Spoon Carving

An instructable on how to carve a spoon out of wood.

Step 1: Step 1: Sketch

You first want to start by sketching a rough outline of you spoon on a long piece of wood.

Step 2: Step 2: Carving the Bowl

Start by carving the bowl. This step is very free form but this step will the backbone of the rest of the project but, don't worry you can come back to this step if you need.

Step 3: Step 3: Separate

This step can be kind of scary so I recommend that you use a band saw. In this step, I carved the spoon away from the block but it probably would have been easier to cut it away.

Step 4: Step 4: Finish Carving

Cintinue carving the bowl and adding finishing touches.

Step 5: Tip- Be Careful!!

when you are carving out the bowl be very careful that you do not the thin spots too hard. I spit mine right down the grain so be very careful.

Step 6: Step 5: Finish Up

Sit back and admire your freshly carved spoon!
