Introduction: Woodern Mini Saddle Rack

This is perfect for anyone who has a kid how loves horses and needs a place for a small saddle or an artist who has made a saddle out of clay or other mediums.

Step 1: Splitting Wood

Split a piece of pine wood 1200mm Length x 90mm width x 19mm thickness down the thickness with a ban saw so you should have two 1200mm Length x 90mm width x 9.5mm. Note sand all ruff edges down the side you cut until smooth and level.

Step 2: Cutting Right Size Pieces

With one of the split pieces of timber measure and cut down the long side into three 30mm x 1200 pieces of pinewood. Once measured draw a line with a ruler and pencil then cut with a ban saw. Sand the sides that were cut until they are flat and smooth. Use try square to make sure you have perfect sides.

Step 3: Cutting Individual Pieces

For each piece of the 30mm x 1200mm pieces measure three lots 300mm long for each piece use a try square to get a perfect right angle and mark with pencil. The cut on the pencil lines with a scroll saw and sand the sides with a disk sander.

Step 4: Front and Back

Then with the other piece of spilt wood measure then cut into quarters with scroll saw so you have four 300mm x 90mm pieces of pine wood and sand edges with disk sander.

Step 5: Glue Pine Wood Together to Create Front and Back

Glue the two lots of two pieces of wood together with a titebond glue and

clamp for 24 hours (note make sure that it is clamped flat so it doesn’t get a boe in it.

Step 6: Creating Shape of Front and Back

When pieces are glued together use a compass to draw a semi

circle at the top of the two faces of wood. Cut out with scroll saw then hand sand with sand paper until smooth and even.

Step 7: Putting It Together

Glue each individual piece of wood to the two faces at each end start at the base the hammer two thin long nails into each edge of the wood and repeat until all the small wood pieces are attached to the faces and let dry for 24 hours.

Step 8: Sand

Hand sand all over note make sure you sand with the grain make sure there are no glue stains and make sure everything is smooth and even.

Step 9: Varnish/ Stain / Beeswax (Optional)

Once finish cover your piece in a finishing material such as a varnish of beeswax or stain make sure two apply more than one coat. Let dry and sand any dust off and apply another coat repeat this as many times as you want to reach desired look. Now you have a finished Mini saddle rack.
